On this trip, places with a connection to Owain’s campaign were visited, including battle sites and castles, on what was a very wet day.

After meeting in Abergavenny the bus travelled first to Usk where visits were made to the castle, the blue plaque near Castle Farm, the famous Pwll Melyn - and to St Mary’s Church in order to view the brass plaque dedicated to Adam of Usk.

From there the bus travelled via Craig-y Dorth and Monmouth to Skenfrith - where the group enjoyed a fine lunch at The Bell, followed by a walk around the castle.

Unfortunately, the weather was not suitable for a stop in Grosmont and so the bus travelled on to Abergavenny where the Priory Church was visited. Some of the group then also had a short tour around points of interest in the town, including the castle.

To finish the day an evening meal was taken at the Plas Derwen in Abergavenny which was enjoyed by all.
