Events Gallery - AGM at Machynlleth on 22nd October 2016
The meeting took place in the Owain Glyndŵr Centre in Machynlleth. In the morning, constitutional matters and the election of officers took place.
In the afternoon, we had a presentation to outline the history of the Society from its inception 20 years ago up until today. It has achieved a great deal in that time. The future looks promising. We now have a website and a Facebook page and have contact with people all over the world. Our next main challenge is to pressurize the Welsh Educational Authority to ensure that the history of Owain Glyndŵr and Wales is included in the national curriculum for Welsh schools. It was proposed that we coordinate our efforts with the other relevant Welsh societies to strengthen our case.
We also had presentations on the Owain Glyndŵr University and the Owain Glyndŵr Centre. We all felt strongly that the Centre needed renovation to appeal to other parties to make use of its facilities. It is sincerely hoped that the Centre will succeed in obtaining grants to achieve this.
A fitting end to the day was a nice meal at the Wynnstay Arms Hotel.
